Weight loss is not only a physical but a mental journey. To accept this journey, one does not only need stamina, but also will power and perseverance. Since it is a timely process, the most important component of weight loss is patience. But due to lack of patience, people often choose supplements for quick weight loss, but their use is highly discouraged as it can lead to side effects like hypertension, restlessness, insomnia, dizziness etcetera for life.

The most common reason for people’s giving up on their weight loss regime is not getting any results. This happens because they solely focus on either one of two most important components of a healthy lifestyle; either diet or exercise. However, both of them play an equally irreplaceable role in shedding off your pounds. So, if you fail to see results after exhausting yourself on a treadmill for hours, it is because your diet is not suitable for weight loss.

In this article, we bring you 5 fat fighting foods; that not only help you get leaner but also provide you enough energy to get through your days.

  1. EGGS:

My grandmother always said, ‘’As long as you have eggs in the fridge, you’ll never go hungry.’’ An egg can be used in a salad, a full course meal, or breakfast. Having a filling breakfast prevents you from consuming extra calories before lunch time, thus aids you in sticking to your diet. A large egg contains about 78 calories; whereas an egg white only has 17. Egg whites have been known for burning fat tissues, thus should be included in breakfast on a regular basis. It can show the difference in as less a month’s time.

Eggs also provide large protein content. Research shows having a high protein diet can boost your metabolism up to burning 80 to 100 calories a day.

  1. PEANUTS:

A study published in the August 2002 issue of the International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders found that after 19 weeks, participants who ate more peanuts had an 11 percent increase in their resting energy expenditure, which means their bodies simply burnt more fats while doing nothing! The science behind the relation of peanuts with fat burning is unclear. However, the monosaturated fats in peanuts are digested easily and do not accumulate in your body. Non-sugar containing peanut butter can be a healthy source of peanuts to your diet.

  1. CINNAMON

Cinnamon is a great spice for weight loss. It has fat-fighting properties which is why those who include up to 2 teaspoons of it in their diets every day have an almost 20 per cent lower cholesterol level. Cinnamon can be added to tea, coffee, salads etcetera.  Recent studies also relate high metabolism with cinnamon. Cinnamon can be mixed with honey to get maximal effects, as both are known to assist in weight loss. Cinnamon has been known for its antibacterial and antiparasitic properties. Not just that, but cinnamon makes for a very good belly burning food as proven in mice through research. Although the effects of cinnamon on belly fat has not been confirmed, it has been shown that cinnamon reduces the risk of type II diabetes and high cholesterol; both of which are consequences of increased body weight. So incorporate cinnamon in your diet by using it with tea, coffee etc and get taste AND health!

  1. DARK CHOCOLATE:

Not only does it curb your cravings and reduce stress, the oleic acid present in dark chocolates is a monosaturated fat which can be easily digested by the body. Furthermore, dark chocolates also have a fat reducing property, due to some flavonoids present in them. Due to these flavanoids, it helps in reducing insulin resistance and thus, helps in keeping your blood sugar levels in check. Dark chocolate helps reduce blood pressure, increase circulation, and also helps prevent arteriosclerosis. All these factors contribute to its weight loss properties. It could be considered a very good diet food as it helps decrease ghrelin, an appetite increasing hormone and thus, could be included in your diet plans. However it should be kept in mind that your dark chocolate should have at least 70 per cent cocoa content, and as less milk and preservative content as possible.

  1. SWEET POTATOES:

The stress hormone cortisol induces fat deposition in your body. Sweet potatoes are a rich source of vitamin C, which counteracts the effects of cortisol, and in turn, reduces the fat accumulation in the body.Potatoes can be replaced by sweet potatoes, which are rather healthier; and when baked, rather tastier!
